Thị trường tiền mã hóa vừa ghi nhận một trong những vụ tấn công tài sản kỹ thuật số lớn nhất trong năm khi một hacker chiếm đoạt hàng ngàn bitcoin trị giá khoảng 340 triệu USD từ Liquid Network. Mạng lưới thanh toán này do công ty tiền mã hóa Blockstream phát triển từ năm 2018 và hiện được nhiều sàn giao dịch sử dụng.

Sau sự cố, Liquid Network thông báo trên mạng xã hội X rằng một hacker "mũ trắng" đã rút tiền từ ví của mạng lưới, buộc nền tảng phải tạm dừng mọi hoạt động để xử lý. Các nguồn tin truyền thông cho biết kẻ tấn công đã khai thác một lỗ hổng phần mềm để rút tiền và cam kết sẽ hoàn trả lại toàn bộ nếu Blockstream vá thành công lỗi bảo mật này.
Cựu giám đốc điều hành của Blockstream, ông Samson Mow, xác nhận công ty đã sửa xong lỗ hổng và nhận lại khoảng 3.400 trong tổng số xấp xỉ 4.000 bitcoin bị đánh cắp. Dù vậy, khoảng 600 bitcoin còn lại (tương đương khoảng 47 triệu USD) hiện vẫn nằm dưới quyền kiểm soát của hacker.
