Lượng tiền gửi của dân cư vào ngân hàng tháng 7 tăng 152.000 tỉ đồng so với tháng trước, lên 11,22 triệu tỉ đồng. Khách hàng cá nhân gửi tiền vào các nhà băng tăng 8,56% so với cuối năm ngoái, tương đương số tiền tăng thêm 885.000 tỉ đồng. Đây là tháng thứ 9 liên tiếp, lượng tiền gửi giữ nhịp tăng. Số lượng tiền gửi khách hàng dân cư hiện gần gấp đôi lượng tiền gửi của tổ chức kinh tế.
Khối tổ chức kinh tế giảm tiền gửi vào ngân hàng trong tháng 7 khoảng 131.000 tỉ đồng, lượng tiền gửi xuống 6,24 triệu tỉ đồng. Điều này khiến tốc độ tăng tiền gửi của khối tổ chức kinh tế xuống 0,98%, tương đương số tiền tăng thêm chỉ còn 60.000 tỉ đồng so với cuối năm ngoái. Tổng phương tiện thanh toán tháng 7 tăng 41.000 tỉ đồng so với tháng trước, lên 20,455 triệu tỉ đồng. Tốc độ tăng của phương tiện thanh toán là 5,2% so với cuối năm ngoái.

Lãi suất tiết kiệm tăng cao là lý do khiến lượng tiền gửi ồ ạt vào ngân hàng. Lãi suất tiết kiệm đang ở mức cao, với nhiều ngân hàng áp dụng ưu đãi cộng thêm 1 - 2 điểm % cho khách hàng mới, đưa lãi suất thực nhận lên 8 - 9%/năm, thậm chí hơn 9%/năm ở một số chương trình và khoản tiền gửi lớn. Trên biểu niêm yết chính thức, lãi suất cao nhất hiện khoảng 7%/năm ở kỳ hạn 6 tháng và 7,5%/năm ở kỳ hạn 12 tháng. Trong khi đó, lãi suất chào trên thị trường dành cho khách hàng đáp ứng điều kiện đặc biệt có thể lên tới 9 - 9,5%/năm. Không những lãi suất, các ngân hàng còn tung ra các chương trình trúng nhà tiền tỉ khi gửi tiết kiệm.
