MU có thực sự "phá sản"?

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, ông chủ đồng sở hữu của MU gần đây đã gây xôn xao giới truyền thông Anh với tuyên bố "MU lẽ ra đã phá sản vào Giáng sinh" nếu ông không ra tay sa thải hơn 400 nhân sự cùng hàng loạt biện pháp cắt giảm tài chính khác. Tuy nhiên, tuyên bố gây sốc này lập tức bị phản bác bởi các chuyên gia tài chính, đặc biệt từ Kieran Maguire, giáo sư tài chính thể thao tại Đại học Liverpool.

Trong phát biểu trên Telegraph Sport, Maguire chỉ rõ mâu thuẫn trong lời nói của Ratcliffe. Cụ thể, chuyên gia người Anh cho rằng "MU dự kiến sẽ đạt khoản lợi nhuận trước lãi vay, thuế và chi phí khấu hao tài sản (EBITDA) từ 140-160 triệu bảng mỗi năm nên không thể rơi vào khủng hoảng tài chính trong khoảng thời gian ngắn như vậy".

Chưa dừng lại ở đó, Maguire còn lập luận thêm rằng: "Ở kỳ chuyển nhượng mùa hè năm ngoái, MU vẫn chi tới 208 triệu bảng để mua các tân binh. Nếu thực sự gần phá sản, ai lại dám "vung tiền quá trán" như vậy?".

Theo Maguire, tuyên bố của Ratcliffe có thể chỉ nhằm một mục đích biện minh cho việc sa thải 400 nhân viên tại CLB. Nên nhớ rằng "Quỷ đỏ" mới ký hợp đồng tài trợ lên đến 90 triệu bảng với Adidas và 70 triệu bảng với Snapdragon hồi đầu mùa giải.

Chiêu trò truyền thông, hay khủng hoảng tài chính thực sự?

Các báo cáo tài chính của UEFA đã chứng minh MU là CLB có lãi hoạt động cao nhất châu Âu với 144 triệu bảng, nhiều hơn Arsenal (142 triệu bảng), Real Madrid (133 triệu bảng) và Tottenham (87 triệu bảng). Do đó, lời biện minh về phá sản càng bị chuyên gia người Anh nghi ngờ "dối trá" và "nghiệp dư".

Ngoài ra, quyền lực của Sir Jim Ratcliffe còn bị nghi ngờ khi không là giám đốc chính thức nhưng lại nắm quyền vận hành hàng ngày của CLB. Liệu điều này sẽ đem lại thành công, hay biến MU thành "đại gia nghèo khó" trong tương lai?
