Lúc 5 giờ 30 sáng 30.9, một số người dân ở thôn Phổ An, xã An Phú (Quảng Ngãi) trong lúc tập thể dục dọc bờ biển Nghĩa An phát hiện con đồi mồi còn sống dạt vào bờ.

Con đồi mồi này trọng lượng khoảng 4 kg, thuộc nhóm 1B, là loài nguy cấp, quý hiếm được ưu tiên bảo vệ.
Sau khi phát hiện, người dân đã đưa đồi mồi đến Trạm kiểm soát biên phòng Cổ Lũy, thuộc Đồn biên phòng cửa khẩu cảng Sa Kỳ để bàn giao.

Đến 10 giờ cùng ngày, tại bờ biển thôn Phổ An, Đồn biên phòng cửa khẩu cảng Sa Kỳ phối hợp Chi cục Thủy sản tỉnh Quảng Ngãi, UBND xã An Phú và Công an xã thực hiện các thủ tục cần thiết để thả con đồi mồi trở lại biển.
Theo cơ quan chức năng, việc người dân chủ động phát hiện, bàn giao con đồi mồi cho lực lượng chức năng và tổ chức thả về môi trường tự nhiên góp phần bảo vệ các loài động vật biển quý hiếm, bảo tồn đa dạng sinh học và hệ sinh thái biển trên địa bàn.
