Giá USD thế giới tăng nhẹ, chỉ số USD-Index thêm 0,05 điểm, lên 99,1 điểm. USD tăng sau khi số liệu lạm phát của Mỹ cho thấy giá tiêu dùng tăng, qua đó củng cố khả năng Cục Dự trữ liên bang Mỹ (Fed) sẽ nâng lãi suất vào tuần tới. Theo số liệu do Bộ Lao động Mỹ công bố, chỉ số giá tiêu dùng (CPI) của Mỹ tăng 0,4% trong tháng 8, sau khi chỉ nhích 0,1% trong tháng 7. Lạm phát cơ bản, không bao gồm giá thực phẩm và năng lượng, tăng 2,4% so với cùng kỳ năm ngoái trong tháng 8, sau khi tăng 2,5% trong tháng 7.
Đồng USD ban đầu tăng giá sau khi số liệu được công bố. Tuy nhiên, tâm lý nhà đầu tư vẫn mong manh trong bối cảnh cuộc chiến tại Iran leo thang đẩy giá dầu tăng, hạn chế đà đi lên của USD và khiến đồng tiền này gần như không thay đổi so với các đồng tiền chủ chốt khác.
Theo công cụ FedWatch của CME, thị trường hiện dự báo khoảng 86% khả năng Fed tăng lãi suất 0,25 điểm phần trăm, cao hơn đáng kể so với mức khoảng 72% được ghi nhận một ngày trước đó. Lợi suất trái phiếu chính phủ Mỹ tiếp tục duy trì gần mức cao nhất trong nhiều năm. Lợi suất trái phiếu kỳ hạn 2 năm, vốn thường biến động cùng chiều với kỳ vọng về lãi suất của Fed, tăng 7,75 điểm cơ bản lên 4,63%.
Đồng EUR giảm 0,13%, xuống 1,15950 USD, đồng thời hướng tới một tuần giảm giá. Trong khi đó, USD tăng 0,47% so với franc Thụy Sĩ, lên mức 0,817 franc/USD và đang hướng tới tuần tăng thứ ba liên tiếp so với đồng tiền này. Ngoài ra, yen Nhật đang hướng tới tuần tăng giá thứ hai liên tiếp so với đồng USD, tăng 0,45% lên 153,69 yen/USD trong phiên giao dịch gần nhất.
