Ngày 4.9, Bộ Chỉ huy quân sự tỉnh Gia Lai cho biết đã hoàn thành khai quật, lấy mẫu 11.976 phần mộ liệt sĩ chưa xác định được danh tính tại 113 nghĩa trang trên địa bàn tỉnh.

Hiện các mẫu đã được bàn giao cho Viện Pháp y Quân đội (Bộ Quốc phòng) để giám định ADN và thực hiện các bước tiếp theo. Trong khi đó, các lực lượng vẫn tiếp tục tìm kiếm, quy tập hài cốt liệt sĩ trên địa bàn tỉnh.
Theo Bộ Chỉ huy quân sự tỉnh Gia Lai, trong khuôn khổ chiến dịch 500 ngày đêm, cấp ủy, chính quyền địa phương và các lực lượng chức năng đã tập trung thực hiện nhiệm vụ với tinh thần trách nhiệm cao, không kể ngày nghỉ, lễ hay điều kiện thời tiết nắng, mưa.

Việc khai quật, lấy mẫu hài cốt liệt sĩ thể hiện sự tri ân, trách nhiệm và tình cảm của thế hệ hôm nay đối với những người đã hy sinh vì Tổ quốc, góp phần thực hiện đạo lý uống nước nhớ nguồn.
