Ngày 14.9, Cơ quan Cảnh sát điều tra Công an thành phố Cần Thơ cho biết đơn vị đã ra quyết định khởi tố vụ án, khởi tố bị can và bắt tạm giam đối với Huỳnh Hữu Thế Kiệt (39 tuổi, ở phường Cái Khế) để điều tra về hành vi trộm cắp tài sản.

Trước đó, tối ngày 12.9, Công an phường Tân An tiếp nhận tin báo của anh N.V.L về việc có kẻ gian cạy cửa, đột nhập lấy trộm một máy tính xách tay trị giá khoảng 20 triệu đồng trong phòng trọ ở khu vực 8 (phường Tân An, thành phố Cần Thơ).
Sau khi tiếp nhận tin báo, công an phường này đã khẩn trương triển khai các biện pháp xác minh, truy xét tội phạm. Công an phường Cái Khế cũng vào cuộc phối hợp để rà soát, làm rõ những người có liên quan.
Bằng các biện pháp nghiệp vụ, đến khoảng 11 giờ ngày 13.9, lực lượng công an xác định Kiệt chính là thủ phạm đã thực hiện vụ trộm nói trên. Trước đó, Kiệt đã có 4 tiền án về tội trộm cắp tài sản.
Hiện vụ trộm cắp tài sản trên được Công an thành phố Cần Thơ tiếp tục điều tra, làm rõ để xử lý theo quy định của pháp luật.
