Trước đó, khoảng 15 giờ 15 phút ngày 10.9, tổ công tác thuộc Đội CSGT số 1, Phòng CSGT Công an tỉnh An Giang làm nhiệm vụ tuần tra, kiểm soát trên tuyến quốc lộ 63, đoạn qua ấp An Bình, xã Bình An.
Lúc này, thiếu tá Trần Ngọc Nam, cán bộ tổ tuần tra, phát hiện một nam thanh niên điều khiển xe máy biển kiểm soát 68AC-015.01 không đội mũ bảo hiểm nên ra hiệu lệnh dừng phương tiện để kiểm tra.
Tuy nhiên, người này không chấp hành hiệu lệnh mà tiếp tục tăng ga, lao vào vị trí thiếu tá Nam đang đứng.
Vụ va chạm khiến thiếu tá Nam và người điều khiển xe máy bị thương nặng, được lực lượng chức năng đưa đến Bệnh viện đa khoa Kiên Giang cấp cứu.
Qua xác minh, người điều khiển xe máy là N.M.N (21 tuổi, ở phường Rạch Giá, tỉnh An Giang). Công an tỉnh An Giang xác định hành vi của N. có dấu hiệu của hành vi chống người thi hành công vụ.
Hiện vụ việc được Công an tỉnh An Giang điều tra, làm rõ và xử lý theo quy định của pháp luật.
