Trận động đất đầu tiên xảy ra lúc 2 giờ 6 phút 41 giây ngày 22.9, cường độ 3,2, tại xã Măng Bút (Quảng Ngãi), độ sâu chấn tiêu khoảng 8,3 km.
Tiếp đó, lúc 14 giờ 12 phút 6 giây cùng ngày, một trận động đất cường độ 3 cũng xảy ra tại địa phận xã Măng Bút, độ sâu chấn tiêu khoảng 8,1 km.
Đến 14 giờ 15 phút 43 giây, trận động đất thứ ba xảy ra tại xã Măng Bút có cường độ 2,9, độ sâu chấn tiêu khoảng 8,1 km.
